Visit an Acclaimed Local Theater with a Rich History
Conveniently located close to Excelsior homes for sale, the Old Log Theatre has existed in one form or another since it was first founded in 1940. The original theater was located in an old log stable, and the most popular plays of the times were performed in that rustic facility for 20 years. Eventually, a dedicated theater was built in 1960, with plays happening year-round. While the times may have changed, the Old Log Theatre remains a staple of the local performing arts scene, and the facility has received extensive upgrades in recent years without ever losing its historic charm.

Celebrate Snow! Family Fun at Arctic Fever 2020
Arctic Fever is sweeping the Lake Minnetonka area once again! This annual celebration of snow brings a flurry of family-friendly activities to Excelsior's surrounding neighborhoods. For the last 14 years, Arctic Fever has delighted locals and visitors throughout Minnesota, celebrating winter fun with food, festivities, and outdoor fun!
In 2006, the cities of Tonka Bay, Shorewood and Excelsior came together to host an event that encouraged locals to get active outdoors despite the cold weather. Each year, this free Arctic Fever festival continues to grow by adding new activities and attractions to the schedule of events. Arctic Fever 2020 takes place between January 16th and 19th this year and we invite you to join us for these exciting events!

Excelsior Christkindlsmarkt: Family Event of the Season

History of the Christkindlsmarkt
The Christkindlsmarkt Festival has a long tradition, having started over 700 years ago in Dresden, Germany to celebrate the coming of the Christ child. It spread throughout Germany and moved to Austria and Switzerland before coming to the U.S. in Chicago. The Chicago festival is still celebrated today, and it also takes place in towns such as Excelsior. It's inspired by the traditional open-air events and celebrates German tradition in a fun, local event. Excelsior Christkindlsmarkt is the perfect chance to shop for the holidays, spend time with your family, and patronize local merchants.

Community Events: Excelsior Apple Day Sept. 21
Excelsior Apple Day is right around the corner, and we are excited for another year of fun. On Saturday, September 21st, this lakeside festival close to Excelsior homes for sale returns downtown on Water Street for a full day of fresh produce, live music, an exhilarating race, and old-fashioned street dancing. We look forward to this annual event and hope you'll join us in celebrating one of Excelsior's favorite traditions!

Excelsior: Summertime Celebrations Not to Be Missed
Minnesota summers are full of fun and entertainment for all ages, and Excelsior homes for sale are right in the midst of the excitement. Here are two popular events offering another reason to make your home in Excelsior.
Lake Minnetonka 4th of July Celebration
Holidays are full of shared traditions that bring communities closer together. For more than 130 years, people have gathered for the day-long Lake Minnetonka 4th of July Celebration. More than 200,000 people are estimated to participate in the waterfront activities centered at Commons Park in downtown Excelsior.
- The day kicks off bright and early at 7:30 a.m. with the Firecracker Run. Choose from 5K and 10K timed races or a one-mile fun run. Routes begin at Excelsior Elementary and end at the Commons. Early registration fees, which include a t-shirt, are $30 for the one mile run and $42 for the longer races.
