Excelsior Parks and Trails - Homes by Joel

One of the benefits of running is that free "gyms" are available all around Excelsior. Get ready for spring and summer 5Ks and marathons with some training runs at these great local trails.

  • Lake Minnetonka Regional Park - 4610 County Road 44, Minnetrista, MN 55331
The "purifying" powers of its waters were a legendary reference in Purple Rain, but there's no doubt about the inspiring beauty of Lake Minnetonka Regional Park, just minutes from Minnetrista homes for sale. See the various parts of the park along 3.5 miles of trails that also connect to community trails. Leashed dogs are allowed on paved paths, so bring Fido along for company. Local Theater in Excelsior

  • Visit an Acclaimed Local Theater with a Rich History
Conveniently located close to Excelsior homes for sale, the Old Log Theatre has existed in one form or another since it was first founded in 1940. The original theater was located in an old log stable, and the most popular plays of the times were performed in that rustic facility for 20 years. Eventually, a dedicated theater was built in 1960, with plays happening year-round. While the times may have changed, the Old Log Theatre remains a staple of the local performing arts scene, and the facility has received extensive upgrades in recent years without ever losing its historic charm.

Ice Fishing - Lake Minnetonka - Homes by Joel

Living in Minnesota offers access to tens of thousands of lakes that are perfect for fishing. If you think your angling ends in the autumn, think again! There are hundreds of opportunities for winter fishing around the state, especially on Lake Minnetonka. Located just a few miles west-southwest of Minneapolis, Lake Minnetonka is a gem of the Excelsior area and a perfect place to go ice fishing this winter.

Lake Minnetonka Ice Fishing Destinations

If you've never been ice fishing before, there are a few things you should know before you go. First of all, Minnesota's Department of Natural Resources wants to remind fishers and spectators alike that no patch of ice is 100 percent safe. They do not measure the thickness of ice on any of the lakes in the state, so judging whether or not a lake is safe to fish in is the angler's responsibility. New ice is always stronger than old ice. Use this relative thickness guide for reference:

  • 4" or Thinner: Dangerous to stand on.
  • 4": Suitable for the weight of people on foot.
  • 5"-7": Strong enough for ATVs or snowmobiles.
  • 8"-12": Strong enough for a car or small pickup truck.
  • 12"-15": Strong enough for a medium-sized truck.
